When you make a friend, it’s amazing what it does to make you feel at home. That’s my experience here. These last few months have been somewhat difficult, because makign friends has been difficult. Oh, believe me, I’ve tried. But the culture of life here means people are in their cars more. Even dropping Phoenix to school, [...] Once I had a discussion with a college friend about the hardship related to making friends after college. It seems like up to that point in your life, you’re free to do whatever, you are still figuring out what you’re all about, and you get to spend a lot of time with the same people [...] The first week of school is over. The boys did great. Willik was a bit anxious and excited, but he came out of school the very first day saying it was “Awesome!!!” He’s very excited about the fact that recess is a total of 45 minutes long(15min. in the morning and 30 min. after lunch), and as [...] So, if you’ve talked to me in the last several weeks, you know that the hard part of this move for me is the social aspect. Fabio’s got his new job to meet people, although most of them probably don’t live close to us. Willik and Phoenix have school now, where soon enough they’ll have lots [...] Yesterday was the big day. we had asked everyone to be here at 9am to help us move. The day before we’d gone to get the U-Haul truck– a 24-footer, which Fabio had to drive around in Queens. We stayed up til 2am packing, and we got up at 6am and continued packing, in order to be [...] the boys and I have been surviving without an air conditioner. We have not had the pleasure of putting our window unit in, because there’s just too much going on. That’s also true of the mini van, which needs a booster of that special air stuff. I bought it right before the super high temps weekend [...] The home front news has been quiet. Two weeks ago, both our realtor as well as the seller’s realtor were out of town, and so was the seller. Now everyone’s back, and there has been a constant flow of info, but I’ve missed most of it since I was roaming in Canada last week with [...] A few years ago, a friend’s birthday party was a costume party, and Fabio and I dressed up as Bonnie and Clyde. It was a lot of fun, and I think our costumes really worked. There are also some other famous couples , such as Romeo and Juliet, Lucy and Ricky Ricardo, Fred Astaire [...] The general home inspections happened on friday. Fabio went straight there from the airport in Philly, upon returning from Charleston, SC. I missed it, so this is all second hand knowledge. I’m glad to report that the inspection went very well. There was no major problems, just a few minor things to take care of. [...] |
